      Smart manufacturing enabled by a proprietary simulation technique

      Construction machinery is used for high-load work in a variety of environments around the world.
      At Hitachi Construction Machinery, we have enabled quick and accurate assessment of product development by integrating technologies for experimenting with prototypes of construction machinery with our proprietary simulation technique.

      High-precision simulation analysis technique that permits the simulation of various patterns

      Conditions for the use of construction machinery differ among countries and regions, as well as among industries. Versatile machines, such as hydraulic excavetors, need to be developed by assuming diverse use conditions.
      At Hitachi Construction Machinery, we apply our independently developed simulation analysis technique as early as in the prior assessment in the design phase.
      A simulation model is corrected on a computer by importing the analysis results of an experiment conducted by using a prototype and data from machines in operation that are collected using IoT technology.
      By improving the precision of analysis, Hitachi Construction Machinery has enabled prompt, low-cost development.

      Analyzing fatigue damage of Ultra-large Hydraulic Excavators with digital twin technology

      At Hitachi Construction Machinery, we are pursuing the sophistication of our simulation technique.
      For example, for an Ultra-large Hydraulic Excavator that is used at a mining site, we apply ICT and IoT technology for real-time digital representation of the site environment and fatigue damage to the structure.
      Application of this method, which is called digital twin, enables the creation of a simulated space that accurately represents the real world similar to a twin.
